Hearing the voice from within, Lyra hurriedly pushed the doors open with surprising force and rushed over to the console, “Oh my God, are you okay? I saw the regeneration energy sort of explode and just had to see if everything was alright!”
She gave him a quick look up and down just to check if he was on the brink of collapse or not, her parents had told her that when her Dad regenerated into his 10th body he was seriously ill. Speaking of her Dad, if he had regenerated with her Mum there… where was Rose?
“Hold on-” She started, surely he was meant to be ill. “Wait, aren’t you meant to be having some sort of head malfunction right now?”
The Doctor grinned at the sight of his almost-not-quite-his daughter. “Lyra! Been a while, hasn’t it?” He cleared his throat, crossing his arms amiably, as if he wasn’t still in his old, now too large on him. He hadn’t heard from her in a while, and, regardless of the fires still burning through him, he was happy to see her.
“The what? Oh, right! Yes. That. Ehm… well… had a bit of trouble, really,” he said, tugging on his ear. Now there was a habit he’d forgotten in his old face. To slip back into it felt right. “Sort of got degenerated, and it just reverted itself.”
He shook his head, still grinning. “Nah, that was from vortex energy cauterizing too many neural endings in my brain, causing a pressure buildup and a neural implosion. Fit as a fiddle, this time!”
The girl stared at him for a bit, not realising her mouth was open and that she loosely resembled a goldfish. After a few minutes, she finally spoke, “Okay, I’m really confused. How on Earth, or well wherever we are, did you degenerate?”
Knowing now that he was quite or right Lyra lost her tense stance and relaxed a little, however she still had an anxious look in her eyes. “Well, I suppose that’s alright then… I just didn’t know is all. Something bad could’ve been happening.” Her voice sounded as though she was trying to defend her rushing to the TARDIS, but she certainly hadn’t meant it to.
